Nieuwe berggids in Frankrijk

Murray Hamilton heeft al decennialang tochten geleid voor Nederlandse toerskiers. Een Schot in Frankrijk is al een bijzondere combinatie, maar zijn persoonlijkheid voegde daar altijd nog een extra dimensie aan toe. Vrijwel altijd was hij warm en zorgzaam voor ons als deelnemers. Tijdens de zomerse besprekingen op zijn terras in Vallouise of op een mooie plek onder de klimrotsen was het ook nog buitengewoon gezellig. De Britse humor paste altijd heel goed bij de Nederlandse instelling. Murray heeft inmiddels de pensioengerechtigde leeftijd bereikt en heeft ons een opvolger aanbevolen. Tijd om kennis te maken met onze nieuwe gids in Frankrijk

Rémi Monari stelt zich voor:

I grew up in Les Ecrins, at the entrance of the Vallouise Valley near Briançon. (I was the neighbour of Murray!). So I was very lucky to start skiing and climbing very young. My father is also a mountain guide, which gave me the chance to learn about the mountains very early, even though I was first mainly interested in skiing and rock climbing. It was during my studies that I really got back into mountaineering and alpinism, and then I started to think about becoming a guide myself. I still completed my master's degree in international relations and environmental policy. I worked in that field for a while, but I quickly decided to move away from computer screens. Today, I live between Briançon and Chambery, and I work exclusively as a mountain guide. Besides that, I am also very involved as a volunteer in a mountain protection association called Mountain Wilderness. As a guide, what I like best is to vary as much as I can my destinations and work locations, to discover new places. In both summer and winter I particularly enjoy multi-day trips, which allow me to appreciate more the places and share more with people. And for the purpose of writing an article about me, I would be happy to conclude by saying that I am very motivated about working with your association, and that I am pleased to have the chance to be taking over from Murray who has retired, and that I look forward to sharing some skiing days with you !

Je kunt zelf met Rémi kennismaken, bijvoorbeeld tijdens de skitoer in de Nevache. Daar wordt niet zo serieus geklommen als op onderstaande foto. Tijdens de skitochten in de Ecrins is een abseil wel heel normaal, dus ook op dat vlak kun je komende jaren met hem uit de voeten.
